UCABS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1

What is a "UCABS"?

UCABS - Underwater Continuous Air Bubble Scooter,
UCABS has been created to provide the scuba diving experience to virtually anyone without the rigors required by the typical diving experience, No certification, No cumbersome gear and No experience required.
Hop on the UCABS and travel at speeds of up to 3km with a basic operating depth of up to 3 - 5m giving riders access to shallow reefs and wrecks. The UCABS operate like your typical motorbike,
just turn the handlebars for direction and apply pressure to the switch for forward motion. Depth is controlled by the dive staff and a surface buoy.

2

Do I need to know how to swim?

No you do not need to know how to swim. The crew members are all certified dive masters and instructors, and they will help you throughout the tour. You will be supervised and escorted around the spectacular reefs and wrecks and you will never be alone.

3

Can I wear glasses and / or contact lenses?

Yes, you will have to hold your glasses in your hand while placing your head in the bubble and then put the glasses back on as your head is above the water.

4

How deep do you go?

We keep our scooters to a maximum depth of up to 5 meters at all times, which is deep enough to make you feel like you are diving, and to show you some magnificent sites and wrecks. The scooter unit is connected to a floating buoy and you can never go deeper than the length of the line set by the staff.

5

Does the UCABS harm the environment?

The UCABS are completely environmentally friendly. The unit is propelled by an electric motor, and uses a 12 volt battery and a switch. Therefore, there are no emissions to the water. The UCABS is a 100% environmentally friendly green machine.

6

How do you prevent the underwater scooters

from banging into the reefs?

We are very careful with our reefs and the environment and would never permit this to happen. Your experienced guides are with you during the entire tour to make sure you are comfortable, confident, safe and secure at all times. The staff will set your depth to prevent this type of accident.

7

Must I have any scuba diving or snorkeling

experience to enjoy the UCABS ride?

Absolutely not! You do not need any scuba diving and/or snorkeling experience. Just book, arrive on time and enjoy the ride.

8

Can anyone use the UCABS?

You need to be at least 1.2m tall and a minimum age of 10 years (parental guidance is needed if you are younger than 18) The maximum weight is unfortunately 125kg.

9

Can the UCABS tip over?

NO the UCABS is designed so that it cannot tip over.

10

What is the temperature and visibility of the water?

The Mediterranean sea in summer ranges from 20-26 degrees Celsius (68 -78 degrees Fahrenheit) and should you find the water cold there are wet suits for hire. Visibility is normally very good year round.

11

Is the adventure open to pilots with missing limbs?

Yes, we have both left and right handed controls on our scooters. The only restriction is that your prosthetic arm/leg when submerge into water must not float. There is a double UCABS unit available pilotted by a UCABS staff member.
